Dexters in Missouri
We've got a small herd of cattle for grass fed beef in Southeast Missouri, near Cape Girardeau.
We started as a registered herd of Dexters. We've since started using a Lowline Angus bull and have a couple cross bred cows and heifers. We are about to buy some lowline cross steers and maybe a heifer. This means that we need to pick some animals to sell to make room for them. We're open to selling any of them but the I'm going to start by offering a couple.
We have a heifer (ready to be bred this spring) that is Registered Dexter, Dun, Polled. Her name is Franciscan Faith and she is staying real small. I do not expect her to be a short leg dexter she's just slow growing. Last summer I had her tieing with a lead rope but I didn't have time to finish training her to lead. She should have a nice udder shape but her mom is more beef type. Her sire was considered to be more dairy so she may work as a family milker some day.
We also have a black heifer that is nearly a year old that is a real small dexter. She isn't registered because we sold her sire before he had his tail hairs pulled and DNA tested. She is from the same sire as Faith. Her name is Franciscan Love. Her mothers name is SS Black Lady and she is from some real old blood lines. Sire is Shome Braeburn.
