I am going to pass out! good deal!

Umm wow. I saw an add for some dexter/jersey cross cows. One was 3 the other was 4. And one has an 8 month old 3/4 dexter heifer calf. Cows are so tame they actually wont leave you alone. Calf is wild. But whatever. They said $900 for all!! Wow. I only have about $200 so I was going to see if I could just get the calf. I mentioned that I would LOVE them all, but I wont have the money till Feb. Ha ha too bad for me, right? WRONG! THey said they will take a post dated check and I can have them now. what? They said anyone else that responded wanted to eat their pets and I was the only one that sounded like I would actually treat the girls right. Is this a joke?? I know I am good for the money but its going to take me a bit to find a trailer and stuff....they are almost 2 hours away. i have a two horse trailer, but I am thinking they all wont fit.

I keep shaking my head...who takes a post dated check for $900??? For animals! Not going to argue.

I have two dexters right now and I really want to ad to my herd, so all is well. I know what I am doing!

They must think they have found the right home for their cattle, great for you. Some things are interesting to say the least, good luck. > Marc

Well, they are not home yet. I haven't even seen them yet! The lady did email me two pictures, but if I drag them down to my photo album I can't upload them back to the internet (for posting). I have a mac and I have NO CLUE how to get a picture out of an email that I can share with others.

You need to jump on that deal even if you have to make two trips!

Sounds great if those people actually own the animals. You will hold the first payment until you see and pickup the animals won't you?

I am going to have them home for probably three weeks before they cash my check. THey are HOPEFULLY bringing the up here on the 19th if they can get their trailer working properly. They have to come up this way anyway. If not I am going to try and run down next weekend and get them. Then the check is going to be for Feb. 10th.

Jackie I am happy for you, what a bargain! In the three short months that I have had my two dexter cross heifers I've become quite attached to them. Should for some reason I not be able to keep them I think the home would mean more than the money. Please do post pictures as soon as you can!!

Drag them to your desktop from the email, then go to photobucket or your choice of hosting site, it' easy to upload them from your desktop.

Alright! Thanks so much! I couldnt figure out how to drag them to my desktop...but I found a little 'sidebar' feature..my mac STILL has me confused after having her for two years.

Here is the heifer calf! She has the prettiest eyes! Obviously this was taken months ago.

And unfortunately this the only picture I have of the cows. They come pre-named Patients and Fern! So cute!

If the center divider in your 2-horse trailer comes out, you should have no problem with all 3 head of cattle fitting in there. Typically, horse trailers are more enclosed than stock trailers and darker inside, so you might need to open the windows or even the "emergency escape" door if you have one and let some light in to encourage them to load.

Sounds like a great deal but... you do realize that post dating a check won't necessarily keep them from cashing it right? You could end up with fees!

Good for them, but they wont get any money out of trying to cash it early. THey know I wont have the money in there until a certain date. If they do take it there early its just them being stupid. I am pretty sure that if I decided to fight it I would get cleared of the $35 fee if I showed that the check was post dated. The bank is supposed to check the date and not cash them early.

It doesn't come out. Its really old and stupid and the divider is clearly welded into place and is part of the frame sorta. You really can't get it out without wrecking the trailer. But it has a people hole in the front of the divider and one escape door....so if you lead a horse in the one side you can go under the divider and out the door. The calf *might* be able to stand sideways in the hole infront of the cows. I might just take the trailer and try it. If I have to go back for the third one, I will. I used this trailer when I brought my first two cows home. It worked ok and there seemed to be a bit of extra room

If you are going to pull the trailer with a pickup the calf looks small enough to ride in an easily made plywood box in the bed of the truck. Plywood is reasonably priced and would probably be no more costly than 2 round trips, and you would still have the box for other uses.

Jackie, from what I understand, the bank is not responsible to check the date.

You vedy vedy smart! I never thought about that. Its too bad the calf is wild and our stupid truck is jacked WAY up in the air. But I can see if they have a semi type chute. I work at a hardware store so scrap wood to make a box is pretty much free. I also wonder if the calf would even fit in a VERY large dog kennel. I have one of those. I shall ask them the calfs approx dimensions. lol!
