Holstien Milk Cow For Sale-MO

I have a full Holstien cow, experienced(not young, not old), bred two months to a Jersey bull(vet-confirmed pregnancy last week), that I do not want to freshen again. She has never had any health issues in the four years I have known her. She has freshened each year. She has a good sound udder. The reason I do not want to freshen her again is that her teat size is bigger than most of my cows and the inflation size I use is too small for her teats when she first freshens and has an engorged udder. After the first month or so she milks with my inlations just fine. But for that first month she really slows the milking procedure down. She is not hard to hand milk or a bigger inflation size would probably work too.
I am getting ready to send a couple open cull cows to the salebarn this coming week. I can send this good cow too......but if anyone out there would like her, I'd be just as happy for you to have her!!
If anyone is interested, let me know.
She would be $650, confirmed bred, located in southern missouri. She will be available until Thursday of next week.

I wish I lived closer. I am in NW, MO. Have you listed her on craigslist? I hate to see a good milk cow go to the sale barn.

She is not broke to hand milk, but I have hand stripped her in the dairy barn many times. I think she would be easy to break to hand milk, because she is calm. So no, she is NOT broke to hand milk, but I have done it before while she was in the dairy barn. I am not selling her as broke to hand milk though. As for teat size, no, she is fine to hand milk.

The Lamanchas are mostly due right at the end of Jan, beginning of Feb.

I have never hand milked a cow I used to go and hand out with the Mennonite kids but I never got to milk. Its not going to be a rodeo like it is to break a goat in is it? Its one thing when 100lb animal kicks and bucks another when a 700lb or better critter does it.

So, if you think shell do for a simi pro goat milker cattle greenhorn Ill take your word for it

Frankly, I have no doubt I could break her to hand milk in one or two days. But I have broken a LOT of cows to hand milk.......so I would reccomend her to anyone who has milked cows before and is confident in their abilities. Not really a reccomendation for a new to cattle person. As much as I'd like to make the sale......I would rather you both ended up happy!
And she is well over 1000 lbs, no little Jersey girl.

Ok, here she is tonight. Sorry for the ugly picture, but today was an ugly day. Cloudy, windy and COLD.

Holstien Milk Cow For Sale-MO - Cattle

For a cow this size, $650 is just slightly over slaughter price......so a good deal for a bred milker if someone needs her. As you can see, no saggy udder on this lady.

I milked her halfway by hand tonight in the barn. She picked up her feet a couple times, but no swats or kicks. Milked easily, good orifices.

I would say money talks, so the cow walks. First person with the cash is the winner, and she sure looks like a fine cow. She shouldn`t be that hard to milk, but your temperment will make a big differance also. > Thanks Marc

I'd still rather see her go to someone with cow experience.....though you might do just fine. I'd just hate for you to be disapointed. The guy who bought her wants her for a nurse cow, so all is well.
