calf troubles need to know for future

I noticed a neighbors newish calf got through our fence I was trying to find it and then couldn't this has gone on now for a few weeks I would see it but never get close. Wilder than anything. I guess it was nursing through the fence. I found it tocay. it has gotten cast in the feed trough in the lean to. It is really cold and wet and undernurished. It would never come up to the hay with the others so I could catche it. I told the neighbors but they are 80+ and I couldn't know where it was for sure.

Anyway I have this calf in my garage now I gave it a shot of antiboiotics, some red cell and some sugar wather to get it warmed up and hopefully more perky. It is really skinny. I want to try and get it up on its feet to send it home. She does have white milky snot (pneumonia/ getting stuck on its back/side all night.

Any help would be great. Ps I hope cows are hardier than goats every time I have tried to nurse a goat it doesen't end all that well.

If it is a newish calf, the best thing you can do for it is to get warm milk inside. If she is dehydrated, lactated ringers are most likely needed.

Warm it up and get it rehydrated and put it back inside the fence. If it has been nursing through the fence (and it has been if it is a few weeks old and still alive), it's dam will take it back and take care of it. It's not a doogie.

You've done all you can do for her. If she's alive in the morning, I'd put her back in her pasture with her mom. It's a shame that it's come down to this, but there's not a whole lot you can do. Maybe another butt full of antibiotic. Her momma should come to her if she's back in the pasture.
