Any way to tell how much our cows weight?

We are raising our first cattle and were wondering if there was any way to tell how much the cows weight without taking them to a scale. I have seen where (in Countryside magazine) people have measured around the cow with a certain kind of tape measure, and it was able to give them an approximate weight... I also know we can do that with our goats.

We were just wondering if it would be worth taking them in yet this Fall or wait until Spring....

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Go to enasco.com and search weight tape. They are just a few bucks. Not 100% accurate but better than eyeballing.
