Side cutter(wire cutter) works great. Cut the post in two that goes through the ear. >Thanks Marc

Side cutters, a box cutter knife, a jack knife if it is plastic. Side cutters would work best on a metal tag.

Side cutter works great on plastic ones also. No blade to get cut on. > Marc

What's a side cutter? I'd like to remove a plastic eat tag with a metal bar running through it. It has the wrong cow name on it.

LOL, Found out after the fact what a sharp knife and a cow swinging it head will do. My right thumb wears a scare were the knife blade cut from the side into the nail. Sure was not fun for a righty to milk cows for a few weeks after that.
