Grazing question

OK stupid question so don't laugh too loud.

I recently got 2 beef heifers both are pure angus (not that that matters)

My question is WHY do they graze the edges of the pasture? They have the whole darn pasture but seldom graze in the middle. I am not saying they never graze there but more often than not they seem to be grazing along the fence line.

That's just the nature of the contrary critters. I've even seen cattle reaching through the fence for a bite while standing in knee deep grass. If they get the stuff along the fence grazed off they will gradually check out the rest.
