It runs up to $4 a lb, and the folks get $4 a lb, too. . . around here in the Tri-state area of Oh, WV and Ky

Wow, great if you can get it!! It'd be useful to know how they're (anyone) is marketing the beef and to whom. Grass fed here runs about the same as feed lot. Still thats around $3/pound which beats the auction yards.

There are some folks around here who are getting near that. They sell frozen cuts rather than sides, and the prices start at around $4. for burger. They spend a lot of money advertising and have done a lot of legwork with the Co-ops and health food places.

It can be done, but you aren't gonna just hang out a sign and get that kind of money.

I agree tinknal, I'm guessing here, their ad budget surely cuts into their margins ...

They are pretty well established with a steady customer base but I'm sure they put a lot of legwork into getting to that point. He has it set up now so that customers can go right to the locker plant and buy it there.
