cart training

Does anyone cart train? I am intrested but having trouble finding information beyond descriptions and halter training.
Does anyone ride their cows? I know it sounds strange but people do it and love it. We are halter trained ( better than some horses ) and will "stand" untied, also will come when called from back pasture. but I cant get her to "drive" from behind. The verbal cue isnt working, but woah works well.

cattle are usually trained from walking beside the calf while haltered, you generaly use a driving stick as you have to tap them on which way to turn. Right is gee, left is haw, then there is back and woah. You train with a halter for some time getting them use to signals, and if you are training two you will need a light weight yoke. Once they know the signals then you could maybe try driving from behind. It will take awhile and lots of repitition. I am no expert, so anyone else want to chime in may do so. There are alot of books out there about driving oxen maybe get one.>Thanks Marc

Check out the oxen section of this site. There's a thread called Jumping. The lady has pics of riding her cow jumping. Lots of good info about training oxen here.
