Steers with ringworm

I have two Jersey X steers that have a butcher appt Sept 1st. I've read that cattle will become immune to ringworm after 4 to 6 months. Is there any downside to leaving it alone and having them butchered in 2 months? I figure the fungal infection is only in the skin, so it should be ok. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Toby

Nope that isn't true. My milk cow got ringworm from the nurse calves last winter. You can rub off the scaly part with a stick or corncob and spray the area with iodine spray. They should be over it by the time you butcher them.
