My Jersey Nurse Cow

This is my new Jersey cow that I just got yesterday. She is everything you could ask for in a nurse cow. I just walk out in the middle of the pasture and milk her, she's my dream cow! LOL! Now if I can just find some calves to put on her!

Hang on to her! Cows like those don't come around everyday. Great looking cow.

Thanks guys! I am really excited! We were friends with the guy who had her and she will raise four calves at a time. She is so gentle. She is bawling for a calf right now so we are trying to find one. I was going to let her dry up because she is due to calf here in about 2 or 3 months but she is still milking and she seems to want a calf so I am going to go ahead and put one or two on her.

Just remember that you need to dry her up before her calf arrives!! I'm no so sure I would put a calf on her right now or it will need to be bottle fed soon so you can dry her up. And she sure won't want to have that calf removed from her. Personally, I would wait until she has her calf and then get more about the same size. Marc knows more than I do, but this is just my thoughts. -Catherine

I usually try to dry my cows up at least two months before calving.
