Spring Valley Pictures of our cows

Just thought we'd introduce you to some of our cows. Hope there aren't too many pictures for you...

Here are some of our girls out in their pastures... happy cows...

Here's a picture of them getting ready to milk in their stanchions....

And one last picture with the DeLaval milker on one of girls, supplying us with the sweet, creamy raw milk...

Hope this gives you a bit more information on what we're all about.

What lovely ladies.

How many are you milking currently?

Thanks for sharing your pics.

Thanks for your lovely comments. Our pastures are lush right now but get a lot thinner during the heat of the summer, but we rotate them so that they don't eat it down to nothing.

Gone-a-milkin, we have 16 cows and 7 upcoming heifers. We want to stay small so we can do the work ourselves and know it's done right. I doubt that we'd ever have more than 20-24 cows though as we ARE getting older.

If you do the math, we WILL be having cows and/or heifers for sale so we can keep our numbers down. And we have bull calves as well as steers for those that want 'natural' beef as well. Sorry, couldn't resist the sales pitch.

Catherine

If I was only a bit closer I'd be all over that. It's SO hard to find a jersey or anything besides a holstein around here.

Beautiful cows. I am partial to jerseys tho. I like the "atomic" eyes in the barn photo.

We live close enough to the Nuc plant, that`s how we get the eye`s to do that. >Thanks Marc

Gorgeous girls! Love Jerseys. Can't find any worth a nickle around here.
I had to go to PA to get ours. I'd love another, but Illinois is quite a drive - hee hee!

I bet your cows look even prettier now, w/ their shiny summer coats and on summer feed.
Maybe new pictures are in order?

The duct tape was put on the cows that are milking, we went out of town to look at farms, so this was one way for my friend who milks for me to tell who`s milking. >Marc

I love the looks of that old barn. It takes me back a few years. You aren't selling grade "A" right? I wasn't sure if bucket milkers made the cut unless you were Amish. Anyway, looks like you've an awesome operation. Keep the pics coming.

Hey francis, yes we were selling grade A, till we got dropped last fall for being to small to pick up anymore. Ain`t life great? Bucket milkers are just fine for grade A. And thanks about the barn, I really love that ole barn, I have lived alot of my life in that barn. >Thanks marc
