castrating a full size bull

Any idea on how to castrate a full grown bull? My brother has a few he would like to castrate then butcher in a few months. He has tranquilizer. will castrating make any difference in the meat, or in the weight of a fully grown animal? Thanks

If they're already full grown, or even anywhere close to it, the only thing castrating them now will do is put them off feed and make them lose weight they'll have to regain later. Won't change the meat. Total waste of time, counterproductive if anything.

I'd have to agree with DaleK.

Castration should have taken place a long time ago. Now you're only adding stress and pain to the animal, which will result in weight loss rather than weight gain. Leave it be and just butcher them as they are.

Depends upon what you mean by full grown. If he has attained his adult size and is still young the meat will be just fine, if he is older the meat will still be okay but may be a litttle "chewy". Either way you have gotten good advise, no point in castrating him now, just fatten him and put him in the freezer. Bulls don't get rank smelling while cooking and nasty tasting like some boar hogs do.
