Tail rubbing ?

Hi there ,

I don't think I've ever posted on the cattle forum yet but I have a question ! We just bought our place a month ago and it came with seven cows . One angus/hereford cow,a two year old who's due in late April has started become bald on the top of her tail and on her rear end . It is scabbing a bit , I haven't seen her rub but I'm guessing that's what it's from .

Now I'm pretty new to all of this , hubby is the ranch kid but he's out of state most of the time so I'm trying to figure this out on my own .

I did some searches on google and think maybe it's lice ? I haven't had a chance to go out and actually look for lice on her , I'll do that this evening when they come back in .

If it is , what should I do about it ? Is there any holistic treatment I can do ? We try to stay away from chemicals as much as possible .

If you have any other suggestions I would sure appreciate it ! Thankyou so much !

It is lice. An extract from crysanthemums works. You can order this from vet supply sources. Here is the product http://pmep.cce.cornell.edu/profiles...hrins-ext.html
