what do we need to do to get ready?

We are getting a registered Jersey heifer calf who was born in September. We are so excited. What do we need to do? I know there is the Bang's test/certificate she needs before she's 6 months old, right? Anything else?

It's not a test, it's a vaccination.
talk to the vet who does it about any other vacs he would recommend in your area.
Other than that, lots of good hay, decent grain, clean water, and a nice place with some shade and shelter from inclement weather.

Moving away from goats? NOPE. Just adding to the menagerie, LOL. My daughter is in the dairy cow project and this calf will come from our good friends. They're going to give her to us for a great price and we'll decide if we want to keep a milk cow or sell her.
