Are Cows supposed to have Runny Noses?

We just bought our first family milk cow a week ago. They brought her here the day after a big snow storm and it was a two hour drive. She got here with runny nose, but I thought it might be because of the weather. It seemed to go away and yesterday I noticed it is very runny again. She is due to calve tomorrow. Is this normal?

A runny nose by itself doesn't necessarily mean anything by itself, as long as it's clear fluid. Cows are slobbery critters. To be on the safe side check her temp. This is the time frame that "shipping fever" usually shows up. Listen to her lungs for rasps and rales. If you have some B-12 around it wouldn't hurt to give her a shot.
