Hey ya'll... its been a LONG while since I was here last

After we lost our Jersey to that horrible slip and fall last Spring I just kinda took a break from everything. We went on a couple of camping trips including to Pensacola florida and just enjoyed some time off.

Well, here we are almost a year later and my kids are begging for another cow.. my girls in particular since they ended up doing a lot of the milking. They all miss the cheese and milk and butter.

So, we are cow shopping again and I noticed that there are several posts about Dexters, Belfairs and mini jerseys and the like.

I do think we're looking more in that direction as well. We loved our Jersey and wouldn't mind another, but we really could use a slightly smaller one than our last. She was a pretty big girl as Jerseys go.. definitely not an old world jersey at all

We're in South central Kansas and willing to travel somewhat.. Missouri, Oklahoma and most of Kansas.

We've done some work on the barn to prevent future falls and have revamped our milking area to be more functional than it used to be.... we're all excited but willing to wait and look for just the right cow for our family.

Hope ya'll are all well!

Hey Jennifer, great to see you back in the mix. Over on the Dexter Forum, Olga has a JerseyXDexter listed for sale. I think she said she had the cow listed on a Family cow forum, don't remember, but you could pm her.

Well, we've made up our mind I think Dh is going to take an AI class in Stillwater OK, we're going to get 4 Dexter heifers and AI them yearly with Mini Jersey semen and breed for Belfairs. We actually know several people interested and two who have asked specifically to be put on our waiting list once we start having calves, for the first heifers we have.... They even offered to give us a deposit but dh says there is no way he'll take a deposit on an animal that isn't even conceived yet

We have three Dexters to pick up this weekend and one more the following week. we're really excited about this!

Check out REI in Stillwater. They are Reproductive Enterprise Inc I believe... their class is $400-750 and they have a schedule of weekends that they do those classes
