AI and discharge

We got our Jersey AI'd on this past Saturday. We figured she was in heat because we have a 1/2 castrated Jersey bull with her and she tried to mount him; he tried to mount her also but never can get the job down. (We have been tracking her heats and it was on schedule.)

Today she has alot of discharge. AND the bull has tried to mount, but she's not standing.

What could be going on?

Thanks!

Probably nothing.

What you are looking for to confirm heat is when the cow will stand still for mounting. As she is coming into heat she may also try to mount others in the herd.

If your bull is only 1/2 castrated (?), having had some action recently he is probably looking for more. If she isn't standing for it, she isn't in heat.

As far as the discharge, realize that body systems don't turn on and off like a light. It isn't so far from Saturday that it couldn't be normal fluid from the heat that is still being expelled.
