Top ten Old and new breed : Beef

Is there a list of breeds that are considered best (Top) for beef (breeds that have been around ) (breeds that fairly new) . Looking to make up a list of ones to try out for BBQ . I found a place in Wisconsin that sells Beefalo / simmental meat . Not sure what the law in Indiana is for raw milk. (red poll milk ) . Haven't found Beefmaster anywhere near ohio. No problem finding Holstein.

What breeds are considered best for for feedlot , which are consider more pasture breeds ? Thanks i have fairly good idea from asking a farmer friend a few questions that Holstein is the best breed nearby. I'm shooting for pasture breeds. This same friend share with me that allot of farmers don't want the educated buyer to know which breed they raised (ads online) , example angus . Angus is not the best , but the most promoted.

You want a beef breed that does well on grass , would be longhorns, belted galloway, scottish highlanders, devons, and some other breeds. Dairy breeds would be Jersey, gurnsey, milking shorthorn, ayershire and then holstein. holstein is best put in the feed lot on grain , and man can they eat alot of that. They are the best to feed when corn is cheep. Jersey you can`t beat as a grass feed dairy breed, they go out and eat even when it`s hot, holsteins will be under the shade tree keeping cool. Thanks Marc.

Herefords are one of the oldest breeds in the states, I think second to TL's.

That's about all the useful info I can give right now, sorry.

Talk about getting conflicted information. I was told that the devon meat wasn't that great. That maybe an belted galloway/angus was feedlot breed and not a pasture feed.
