Wormers for calves

What wormer should I use for out 14 week old Jersey Heifer?
She has not been wormer yet.

It looked like tapeworms in her manure today if that changes what I'd use.

Also, for goat and cattle owners, is there a wormer I can use for both the calf and our goats? I've used Ivomec Plus for the goats in the past, and the vet recommended Cydectin Sheep Drench, so probably not - just curious.

Thanks

You can get Ivomec pour on for her, or just get a shot from your vet. If you only have the one animal, you don't need a big bottle of wormer. My vet will sell a single dose, just tell him how much she weights. It's really simple, just put it under the skin.

The clear wormers(Cydectin/Ivomec) do not get tape worms. You will need a white wormer for that. Valbazen or Safeguard, something like that. Valbazen and Safeguard are not known for being very effective on stomach worms(though the bottle is labled for them), so you might need to hit her with one of them for tapes, and then a few weeks later use Cydectin or Ivomec to get stomach worms. Don't underdose.
You can use Ivomec Plus, Ivomec, Cydectin, etc all on goats and cows. With cows you follow the lable direction. With goats, *all wormers are given orally*, even if the bottle says pour-on or injectable.
I have used Cydectin Cattle Pour-On for years for our cows and my goats. For the goats, it is given orally. For the cows, it goes down their backbone.

Is the Valbazen safe for dairy heifers? I know it says it isn't to be given to dairy cows ready to calve.

I have Safeguard for goats in the oral form - can I give this to get for the tapeworms?

I would call your vet and ask those questions. Safeguard is pretty much the same, though it comes in bottles labled for other species. Not sure on the dosages though.......
I've never used valbazen on cattle, but my guess is thats its fine in young dairy heifers. But I would ask the vet to be sure.......

I've emailed him, but I haven't heard back and I really want to give her something ASAP.
