How many gallons do you handmilk?

I have been hand milking a Jersey for the past few days while her owners are gone on vacation. She gives about one gallon per milking, and I feel like my hands are going to fall off by the time I am done! I was just wondering how many gallons some of you guys hand milk, I'm thinking it will make me feel better! LOL

For awhile I was hand milking 12 gallons/day. It doesn't matter how many gallons the cow gives though; if you aren't used to it, your hands are going to hurt no matter what.

You need to pat yourself on the back to hand milk and not be accustumed to it you did very well. A gallon of milk is a lot to do if you are new to milking . Good Job

4-8 gallons depending on how many orphan calves I've got. Ideally, I try to keep enough calves on them to take care of all the milk except for what I've got sold. Otherwise, I milk a couple of gallons a week for the family and let the calves do the rest.
