Is This a Good Deal?

I have a friend that has told me she has a Charolais heifer that she will sell me for $250.00. The heifer is 8 months old. I know nothing about cattle, but my husband says it is a good deal. If she is a freemartin, she will go in the freezer. So what do y'all think?

Thank you in advance

Amanda

very good deal unless she is a runt but at 8 months old she should be bigger then 500 lbs and that still would be a great deal

freemartins are not very common in beef breeds they do not have twins very often some herds of 100's of cows do not have twins for years...others have 3 or 4 sets a year

would not even think of check a beef breed for freemartin

but they do taste good

I would expect to receive more than $400 for a heifer of that description at the local sale barn. Out of more than 900 calves born I have only had one set of twins and then the cow had milk cow influence in her makeup.

I raised both a jersey steer and a Maine/D'anjou freemartin from calves to supper table.
Both were delicious.
