Cool looking cows in Germany - pic

I went for a drive in the country-side in Bavaria last weekend while in Munich for business.

It's always fun to see how people "homestead" in foreign countries. For one, the only horses I ever saw were draft types. Also, there are alot of really robust looking cows that look like both meat and milk types.

I saw several black cows with a white dorsal stripe and other white on legs etc. I took this pic quickly out my car window so it's bad.

Anyone see cows like this before? They're very, very cool.

I've seen a pattern like that on some Shorthorn crosses. Pretty cool looking, all right! I like a fun looking cow.

They are very cool looking cattle. I've seen pictures of them before. I can't remember where. Can't remember the breed name either. Pinzgauer maybe?? Neat looking animals.

British White can also be that color as well as Longhorns. It isn't that uncommon of a pattern.

I think that they are Pinzgauer, although most of the ones I have seen are red rather than black.

Dang! I wanted my Deutschland cow to be special!

Ah well - I thought he was pretty cool looking Its not the best pic and I wish I had others as there were whole herds this color that had super muscular bodies and very stout looking legs. Some of them looked blue.

They also have milk cows that look like Swiss browns but hairier and kind of meaty. Def a milk udder, though.

I think its like a lineback gene thing.... theres several different kinds (both milk and meat) that carry that. They arent very common in the US, I dont think, but I hear theres some herds in Canada.

when i was in the military i allways loved going out to the local farms and looking around..

one of the farmers i got to know over there thought i was funny that he told you can take the kid out of the county but can take the county out of the kid ..he was all ways asking me do i want to come out here on my days off and spend it working around a farm for free ..i did get feed a lot of good home cooked meals ..so to me it was worth it ..

he would laugh at times for i would be out there on the farm at 5.am on a sat morning to help with chores around the place ..

i was homesick for the family farm i guess..
