Not a steer?

Last fall we bought 2 young cows. One was a 5 month hereford heifer and the other a 3 month angus steer.

Been thinking of breeding the heifer lately. Also bought a milking shorthorn heifer, and getting ready to have her AI'd.

So, I am out there paying more attention to cow butts.

Looking at the "steer" butt and belly, thinking. how odd. "Belly is aughly smooth fo ra steer, how does he pee?" Keep looking at the butt of the black cow, thinking "not very smooth like a buck goat is" "doesn't look really like the heifer butts, but closer."

Imagine me about 2 feet from the black cow butt, waiting for the tail to swat a fly so I can look again. (not a freindly cow, but at least not a freak)

The cow squats and pees!

We have an angus heifer not an angus steer! ROFL!

Surely glad to have figured it out before we brought a bull over!!!! She is not nearly as large as the other 2 heifers.

Interesting day! Always did think that cow had a feminine face, lol.

That happened to us one year with baby goats. They all came out looking alike that year. There was one little girl and the rest were boys. I had some children help me load the boys up for the auction. We had "Magnolia" for a couple more weeks. We were out working in the garden and Magnolia was facing away from my husband. He looked over and hollered. Magnolia was a definite HE!! I must have sold my little girl... sigh...
