Mini Angus amount of feed for grass fed

A friend and I are looking at raising a mini angus to split. The ranch owner said that at most it will eat a bale a week for grass fed only. Even for a mini angus that seems like an awful little, only about $50 a month? Help!

I have a 6 month old mini angus heifer and she eats 1 flake first cut grass trefoil mix twice a day WITH grower ration. Without the pellet I would say more like 2 flakes twice a day or at very minimum 3 flakes a day. She is on pasture now. Thats more like 2- 2 1/2 bales a week. I think your wasting your time with a mini unless you can get it for free. I only have her as a novelty, if I wanted beef I would get a real angus for sure. She doesnt grow AT ALL These mini angus are very tiny and grow very slow. Youd be spending the same or more to grow one out because it will take alot longer.

Fed the animal 3% of its body weight daily.

the highland is 10 months old, and the angus I am not 100% sure of age but think 6 months old, shows the size difference.
