How much milk replacer will it take

I am thinking about getting a newborn calf from a local dairy and was wondering how many bags of milk replacer it will take to get them to weaning size.

On 50# bag will do it...However I usually feed longer then one bag...My best advice is to buy one 50 pound bag and one 25 pound bag and you'll end up with a healthier calf by doing so....Keep in touch

If it is normal stuff 1 50 pound bag should be enough.
Usually 1/2 pound per 4 pints a feeding.
See if the dairy will keep it around and feed it colostrum for a few days. Or as an option send it home with some colostrum.

One more thing buy the best MR you can afford for the 50# bag. Get the cheaper brand for the 25# bag and feed out in that order....

I have two calves I am bottle raising from babies. I am on my 3rd 50lb bag of MR and it will be our last. The good MR here costs $55 a bag. I count on 1 bag per calf for 2 months but I am feeding for 3.
