Large bull calf having trouble standing

Hey all, my sister has this month old Holstein bull calf that has been healthy up till a few days ago. He started having trouble getting his legs under him to stand. I thought the first time he did it that his front legs had gone to sleep and he just could not feel them. He got his hind end up but scooted around the stall twice on his knees before getting up. Mind, he is very large for his age. He drinks just fine once he is up, and he walks around like normal. Today we had to pick up both ends, and after a moment he got his balance and was good. Any ideas what this could be? I have heard that there is a parasite in goats that attacks the nervous system, and causes similar symptoms. But I did not think it could get cattle. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as he is an otherwise healthy calf. Thanks

Does he have scours? If he does the calf is dehydrated and probably has walking pneunomia (sp). Maybe he's not getting enough milk/food/grain and is weak, it's possible.....Topside

Selenium deficiency can lead to loss of control of muscle tissue and motor skills. Inability to rise to a standing position can be a symptom.

Wow, I can not believe I did not think of a selenium problem. We have lost calves to white muscle disease (selenium deficiency) before, but they were all very young, just a few days old. I'll get a shot of bose for him, hope that’s the trouble, thanks!
