New Calf pics. What about names? George? Frank?

Or how about something more feminine like Daphne, Prudence or Charlotte?

We have a brand new heifer born today at about 7:30pm. I am SOOOO excited.

I have been a bit worried because I haven't seen her latch on but she is walking around her Mom and acting interested. I think they have to drink colostrum within 12 hours, right? I actually had to run back into work so will check on her before I go to bed.

Just so you won't be mad at me... here's some pics

Congrats on the new heifer! She's perfect! My Jersey cow is due to calve in Aug. I hope I get a heifer too!

For names: Spring, Belle, Butter, love the name Daphne, I might steal it from you.

I like Daphne, although my 3-year-old would argue the case for Velma (she likes that Velma is smart).

Getting colostrum within 2 hours would be best. 12 hours is getting to be way too long before it's first meal.

She's adorable. I always liked feminine names for heiffers. For bull calves I didn't want to get too attached and used names like Sir Loin, T-bone, Beefy etc.
