pasture fertilizing

anybody give me an idea ,what type fertilizer to use on our pasture?i was told 1212,is that correct.what do you all use? how many weeks before putting our cows on the pasture should we wait,after fertilizing.

Where are you located and what types of pasture are you asking about??

I go to the local extension office and get a soil sample kit. After you take the kit back to them they will analize it and let you know what ratio of fertilizer your pasture needs. Thats the only way to get it right. It only cost $10.00 and it makes sure you get what your pasture needs, thus saving you hundreds.

I hate to rob or highjack a thread, but are any of you going to fertilize this year? I've not been able to see the feasibility in it for us this year. With 19/19/19 applied at a rate of 265lbs. per acre (recommended by the soil tests) I just simply can't afford it.
