Weaning age and age at first estrus

Hey,

Couple of quick questions I know someone can answer for me.

What is the average age when you wean beef calves?

What age do you expect to see first estrus in beef heifers?

Thanks in advance.

Average weaning age is about 200 days. Most calves are weaned between 5 and 8 months.

First estrus can happen anywhere from about 4 months on, although on average I expect it is between 8 and 12 months of age. There are some very fertile breeds (Gelbveih is one) that regularly have calves cycling before they are weaned. Estrus is linked more to weight than to age, and a lot depends on the breed.
