Alfalfa in the last 7-8 weeks?

I was told by the guy I bought my jersey from to withhold any alfalfa in the last little while before calfing to prevent milk fever.

Right now, we feed grass hay, grain and alfalfa pellets. Do I stop with the pellets and at what point?

Thanks in advance
Cliff

Yup withhold alfalfa and grain. Feed lots of good quality grass hay and pasture in the last 8 weeks. Also, stop milking her at this point.

I stopped milking her awhile back as she was drying up anyway. It has been a loooong time since she freshened and I am looking forward to the milk! I cannot drink that carton carp!
