Price for calf?

I have a question for you good folk. I have a friend who has a 2 week old Angus/Cross hefier calf for sale. they want 250.00 for her. I've never had a calf before and wanted to know if this price is fair. Her mother died so she is on the bottle. Thanks

Not knowing where you are located and what your cattle market is around you, I am going by what I would pay. Of course I get a lot of free calves but- her having been on the bottle already that would be a plus, if she is healthy- no scours or resp. problems- max I would give would be $175.00.

Here in SE OK, right now that calf would bring about 125.00 at the sale barn. I'm with B_Adams, $250 might be a bit pricy depending on where you are located.
Depending on what state you're in, google "livestock sale markets reports" for your state and parse through to see what baby calves are bringing at a sale barn near you. Better yet, call the local sale barn and ask them what babies are bringing. Then, you'll have a better idea.

I concur with Francismilker, $125 if she's crossed with Jersey, $150 if she's crossed with another beef breed....Topside
