How many calves?

Now that my jersey heifer is gone and I'm not sharing milk anymore, my cow is giving about 3 1/2 gallons of milk a day (with no grain and OAD milking). I'm wanting to put a calf or two on her (if she'll take it/them) and wondering what you guys think as far as how many calves. I'm thinking 2 would be ok, then I can just separate and milk when I need the milk, or, if she's not willing to foster them, I will just milk her and bottle feed the calves. Does 2 calves sound like too much? They'll probably be holstein calves, but I'm going to try for jerseys. Thanks in advance!

I have two holstiens on my Jersey cow, she does just fine with them. I do feed about nine pounds of grain twice a day though, because they nurse twice a day.

We have 3 Holstein bottle calves using Elsie's extra milk. In retrospect that is 1 too many because sometimes we are without our milk. Two would be my recommendation.

Thanks guys! I thought 2 would be ok. It's always nice to have another opinion.
