Calf Raising Tip (Pic)

Homesteaders: if you're thinking about buying your first calf soon how about investing a little extra money and purchase one of these. Best investment you could ever make for you and your special calf. This item only cost $10 more than a standard bottle and nipple, plus it will last forever. Just thought I'd pass on my opinion...Topside

I buy mine through Valley Vet....$21.95 for the one nipple milk bar.

Here's the write up from the site...Topside

Designed to feed calves easily and effectively. It holds 3 quarts and has molded hooks to hang on calf shed rails, hutch, or metal panels. The feeder is designed with a valveless nipple making the calf drink with the same sucking action as from the cow. Made to outlast other style nipples and easier to clean. Calf produces more saliva than with other nipples, giving it better digestion.

I've got the one with five nipples, which you can feed more than one at a time. It's worth the money!

I have the same one and agree 100%. I love it!
I got mine from Valley Vet for less than $60. Totally worth every penny.

Callieslamb, the #1 biggest reason to own one is that it saves choretime. I can hang the five nipple version, dump the milk in and walk away. I usually just continue my routine and come back later to retrieve the milk bar. Feeding five calves at once makes my day. One other plus is that it's washed twice a week during cool to cold weather seasons (my choice). I firmly believe that my calves are healthlier with a milk bar system....Like I mentioned in post #1, first time calf buyers should invest in the one nipple version, they won't be sorry....Topside
