I havent been around much. Life has settled into a nice routine here.
We have the Jersey cow, Zella, that is giving us around 3 1/2-4 gallons a day. I am making cheese almost daily, yogurt and butter.
We have a Nigerian Dwarf that is due to kid just any day now, along with her boyfriend the NGD buck.
We have four rabbits (two lops and two dutch)
a mess of chickens running around here too
anyway, we've settled in very well and love the way life runs around here. Okay, honestly, there are times I wish we didn't get quite so much milk, but, the dog and chickens love our excess, and when we have pigs again, we'll certainly share a bit with them too.
I've been quite successfully milking with an Udderly ez milker for many months now. no sign of udder damage or pain, and no signs of mastitis since that initial one when we first got her.
I'm gearing up for gardening season and excited to see things growing again. I hate this cold weather!
I'd like to get a Nubian doe to breed with the NGD buck for mini nubians, but Im waiting to come across just the right one.
Thinking of checking with Ozark jewels when she has new kids
