can calves get lumpy jaw??

I sold someone a jersey calf two weeks ago. Dropped off a couple more for him today and noticed the first one has a hard swelling on left lower jaw. Its grape sized and right where the molars are. Can a 4 week old calf get lumpy jaw? Will medicated formula help? The guy is a bit wimpy and doesnt want to inject him. I probably can if La-200 will work for this. He acts totally normal.

I know in horses they get lumps on their jaws when they are getting teeth in. Most likely thats what it is.

When calves get lumps like that it is more likely the same bacteria? that causes footrot and diphtheria. It is a form of calf diphtheria, and we deal with cases of it every year. Much better form to have than the other form which affects the larynx and can be deadly.

SustainIII boluses will usually fix it up, or any other drug that works for diphtheria or footrot.
