Strong smelling milk??

Has anyone ever noticed milk smelling strong....just plain gross when your cow is in heat. Hazel is in heat, and her milk smells awful. We have noticed it quite a bit lately. All her feed is the same, only difference is heat. EWWW
Another question, how do you know when they need to be bred. She comes in, but will stand anytime so I cant go by that, is it when she has mucus?? I need to figure it out so I can call and see about having her AId. We had her AId in December, but were too late.
Thanks for any help.

She needs to be AI'd 12 hours after you first see her standing to be mounted. Mucous isn't a good indicator of what stage of her heat cycle she is in. Mine never show any mucous until I see a few steams as they are actually being AI'd. I have never had any of my girls have off smelling/tasting milk just because of heat so I can't answer that question.

We only have 2 steers in with her and she will stand at any time, (hussy) even if she is not in...She is so confusing.
I need to find a Vet that can get Jersey semen, when I asked the Vet we used last time he told us it was hard to find, that no-one wanted Jerseys, how sweet huh. I will keep a closer record and try for next month. Thanks for the help.
I thought it might be something in the hay making the milk bad, but it seems to coincide with her heat cycle. And I mean the milk STINKS!! you won't be drinking it EWWW.

A nice clear discharge along with the standing is a good indication she is ready for AI.
