Yippee!

We f-i-n-a-l-l-y found an AI tech that is able to do our heifer!! That's only taken 4-6 months....holy cow, didn't know it would take so long to find someone able.

Now, I know she may not take the first time, but anyone know the statistics? I'm hoping that she does. Right now, she'd be due Oct. DH wanted a summer calf, oh well.

Oh, and do the hobble when they AI? I KNOW that she will kick.

Success rates vary between 50% and 80%. Usually the higher end if you are AI'ing on a natural heat.

Don't usually hobble them when AI'ing. The more stress you put on them, the more likely they won't catch. I've pregchecked and AI'd for the last 5 years, never had one even offer to kick. It isn't something that happens very often, and if she might be a kicker, you just put a post in behind her in the chute (horizontally). Protects the guy doing the AI and doesn't stress the animal.
