Online Prescription Medications

Does anyone know of an online veterinarian that will issue prescriptions over the internet? It seems crazy to have to buy prescription meds that are marked up high enough to pay for a veterinary clinic when all I really need is the medication for my cattle. I paid over $200 for some meds for 4 calves -it knocked down the cough for a bit and now they are coughing again. I can't keep throwing $$ at them. I need to be able to buy the medications I need without paying for the vets markup. I need an online pharmacy.

I don't think you can get prescription meds from a vet unless the vet has examined the animal(s). Could be whatever meds you used didn't address the problem, or maybe there's a secondary problem going on. I'd be skeptical about getting prescription drugs over the internet...you don't know the source, or even if the content is actually what they say it is, especially if from another country.

Do you have a bovine vet in your area? Might be better (and more economical, in the long run) to have the vet out, get the calves diagnosed properly and treated.

True you first have to have a regular farm vet come and look and prescribe the meds or at the very least Prescribe the meds you need~~.. This is what is on those on line catalogs. This one happens to be Untied Vet, but they are all pretty much the same.

I know in my area, a veterinarian is not allowed to refuse to write a prescription in order to sell you the meds themselves. If they have examined the animal and determined appropriate treatment, they are required to write the prescription if the owner requests it.

Jode there are so many antibiotics on the market now days and you really do need to know which one to use, if you have to, either by experience or with your vet. I know that my vet, once comfortable about the client and also how the client is reporting symptoms, will often help over the phone and saves the money, and the time of a farm visit. Liz

We purchase a lot of our medications from American Livestock. (They have a website.) That said, we do consult a vet if we are have something unusual or that doesn't respond to LA-200/Sulmet combo. You are correct that if you have to call a vet for every sniffle, you'll never turn a profit.
