remember the sick sale barn calf?

Ok finally after a long wait I have got pictures for you of my sale barn calves.

To breifly refresh memories I bought 13 jersey calves at the sale barn back the first week of October. Only 7 were mine 6 were a friends which I boarded here for a short while til her barn was ready.
One of mine got very very sick and was down for 3 weeks and vet and everyone said let it die. Well thru the grace of God or something he lived!!!!!!!!!! Here is a pic of him:

Nice lookin bunch of calves. You are very lucky with this one. Just from what I can tell in the pics he is a gurnsey. They are the hardest to raise calves there is.
Great Job !!!

Not necessarily so, he may very well be purebred Jersey. There are some Jersey A. I. bulls that throw a lot of color.

Look at this: Jersey Calf

This is one of my Jersey calves by a bull named Alf, who sires a lot of broken colored calves.

I think it's Guernsey as well. The shade of red, the shape of the head, and the pattern of white doesn't look right for a Jersey.

Oh, they are all so cute! What is the plan? My jersey heifer was born October 14, I must say she is a fatty. (Course she is still on Momma!) I know I need to get her off, it is just so pitiful.
BTW, I think socks is a looker. Just adorable.

Yes jersey's have differnt color patterns. We have half white and tan jerseys before. But, the peach colored skin gives away teh gurnsey breed. Like I stated if you pulle dhim through you done a excellant job. They are very hard to get past teh 2 week old stage.I have 2 gurnsey cross in the barn I milk.

He's definitely not purebred Jersey. I've seen him in person..
As I mentioend on the other forum, they look great, Sarah! You've done an amazing job, especially with Red. I see he is still daddy's big baby, huh?

Thanks for the praise guys!!!!!!!!!!! I just love my babies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes Roseanna red is still daddys big baby he still put him in his lap and rubs him down and red eats it up!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He also has gaylord doing it now too!!!!! Notice gaylords pink collar??? LOL!!

Red is a definite gurnsey. I grew up on a dairy farm and we had gurnseys and some mixed jersey and the rest purebred holsteins. Socks we think could maybe have a bit of herford in him. If ya see his head straight on it is very blocky like a herford and his body build is very different from the jerseys. He is one fine looking calf!!!!!!!!!

Glad everyone enjoyed the pics!!!!!!!! Hope everyone has a Happy and safe new year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
