Pretty Pat for near Winter

The height of a cow pat is often considered a good indicator for the quality of the feed. The taller the pat the more roughage and the less nutritional. Flat pats are unusual when feeding hay, mounds are more typical. I want to share what the stockpiled Fescue can provide as the cold weather shifts the grass into dormancy.

I turned mine into a paddock of stockpiled fescue, with a little clover in it. A few of them actually became loose. I had to put out hay to tighten them up.

We have almost 6 inches of snow on the ground right now, with another 6-10 coming overnight.

I don't think a picture of a cow patty on grass could look better!
