Does anyone have jersey or guernsey around in MO?

I am just looking for people who lives in MO. I am just trying to find out how far you guys live and stuff and find out how much do you guys charge for jersey or gurnsey baby cows. I am trying to prepare for next spring so I can buy one. U know like reserve it and start saving the money up. I am really looking for a heifer baby cow that I can bottle feed her with goats milk.. So I can get used to her and watch her grow.. I want to be comfortable with her while she is a baby. U know. I hope you guys can help me with this. So I can start saving up. Thanks..

Not sure what part of the state you're in, but you might contact Ozarkjewels from this board. She usually has a jersey heifer or two. As far as the guernsey, I don't know anyone in MO that raises them.

We have Jerseys and some relations of ozarkjewels have a dairy in Moumtain Grove and you might be able to get a heifer there around April. They only calve seasonally and will only sell heifers after they get all the replacements they want. They wanted $400 last year for newborns.

I have a 2 deep waiting list on heifers already but we should have 4 calves next year. All our jerseys are miniature in stature.

We do *sometimes* sell heifers from our pure Jerseys, but we usually have a several name waiting list on them. We sold one this past spring, but we retained two. We sell them for $400.
We will probably have a couple heifers from our large Jersey/Holstien herd. Depends on how many heifers we get as we must pick our dairy replacement heifers before we sell that many. We will have cows calving through the winter and spring. Those calves will be 1/2 to 7/8 Jersey, the other percentage will be Holstien. They will run $300-$400 each.
We have one October heifer available right now for $300. She is out of a Jersey bull and a Holstien cow.
We are located outside of Willow Springs.
As matt_man mentioned, my sister lives near Mountain Grove and they may have heifers in the spring. They usually do.

You could contact the people at www.familyfriendlyfarm.com
They are north of Cape Girardeau, MO and are milking 5. They could have one for sale next year, or they could put you in touch with the farm that they bought theirs from.

Thanks! Ozark. I will talk to my husband about it and start saving the money up if there is no heifer for sale but that is okay. I will look another place just in case. Thanks!!
