Cool Securing a cow

OK, I realize I need to build something to keep my beef still while it gets its shots and all, does anyone out there have a cheap/easy design/idea on how to do this? I have no space inside my small building to do it, and need to be able to get the cattle in there easily. I have one 10' long exterior wall I could use as one side, which I could put a gate on so that I could pinch them between the wall and gate (seen that in one of the books I read), but not sure that would be the best way. Any suggestions? (pics)

Thanks, John.

I've used an existing building as one wall like you mentioned and used a couple of portable tubing panels to build a makeshift containment area in a pinch with a GENTLE cow. I wouldn't recommend it unless the critter you're dealing with is especially gentle. If it decides to not cooperate with the veterinary work you're performing this type of containment system won't keep you safe. Be careful!

Before I built my chute, I used a medina hinge setup. This is 2 gates that pivot off of the same post and you squeeze the animal between them (works great with horned cows, b/c the horns simply stick through the gates) or you can mount a gate about 8-12" off the wall and run the cow into the gate and squeeze her against the wall.

Just make sure to use a Hvy duty gate, not a cheap thin wall tube gate that may give and bend when the cow starts pushing back. You can then chain or rope the free end of the gate against the wall to keep it secure and keep the cow from backing out.
