Well the springers marked supreme look to be obviously of the best quality out of the Approved, Medium and Common type cows. By best quality would most likely mean conformation, reproductive and body condition.

I've always had a similiar question. What constitutes a "common" cow. Is it body condition, udder health, teat size, (maybe a three titter), or all of the above? For my operation of using nurse cows it seems to me that a "common" might do the trick as long as she's got good overall udder health. In the past I've always raised a heifer and turned her into a nurse but I'd like to increase the size of my operation without waiting two more years.

What you, or I or someone else thinks makes a good cow can be three different answers.

I'd just go to/get ahold of a dairy that you know sells cows/heifers regularly.
Look at the ones they have for sell, pick and choose from them. This way its easier not to buy someone elses' problem cow.
I check out the Udder first, feet/legs/bodycondition next.
