Bull calf banded or not?

If this calf we got for $125 is a bull calf, shouldnt we see his 'boy parts' already? or would he likely be banded already?

I have seen nothing in the way of boy stuff so far and I just figured that when our Dexter calf was born others said that we should see boy parts if it was a bull calf and since we didnt, we knew she was a she.

Anyway, this calf is 5 wks old but Im not seeing any boy stuff so should I assume he's been taken care of already?

If he has been banded the scrotum area should have a small ring type of scar tissue remaining where the sac was attached. Usually cut by blade a fair amount of sac remains.

Check under the tail. A butt and a vulva = heifer. 'Justa' butt = bull or what 'usta' be a bull.

SIGH... well this is a horse of a different color! We went out to check on where the animals were bedded down and found the calf and the cow standing around by the gate mooing loudly at us as we walked out...

well, while we were standing there, the calf formerly known as Tbone had to relieve itself... and HE is SHE!!! So now *I* will call her FAJITA!

Wait, wait. I'm confused. Now which one is this? Did you get a new milk cow AND a new heifer?

well... they TOLD us it was a bull calf I think... and since we saw no 'stuff' we assumed it'd been banded... and we didnt really look.

we bought an angus cross calf to raise for beef... but thought were were getting a steer and got a heifer instead

Lordy, girl. You do have a way of landing in a patch of daisies and buttercups, don't you?

ROFL... you have such a way with words! Well, sometimes things feel more like pinecones and cactus... but I suppose I should be grateful for the good things and not fuss over the speed bumps in the road.
