Do bred cows ever mount others?

I have 2 supposed bred cows, and within the last week have watched each mount a young heifer. The heifer is submissive and I am hoping that is the case?
Thanks!

I would worry that the supposed bred cows are not. I don't recall ever seeing my bred cows doing any mounting. The real proof would be if one of the supposed bred cows stood to be mounted. When were the cows bred?

Yes bred cows will mount others in heat. Anyone who has owned cattle for awhile would see this from time to time. But, Im not saying yours are bred, just saying that bred cows will mount. Best thing to do is have them palpated.

Yes, bred cows will mount others. Mostly that is an indication that the animal being ridden is probably in heat, but it can also be a sign that the ones doing the mounting are either coming in, going out or in heat as well. It isn't a sign of dominance, and it definitely isn't a sign that the animals doing the riding are or are not pregnant. If you want to know if your cows are bred for sure, have them preg checked.

Thank you!
The heifer who was ridden, is 14 months so likely in heat-I'll keep an eye on her. She seems so small yet...
