help me figure out the date please :)

If Springs calf was born on 10/10/07 and she was with the bull for 2-4 wks after calving... dh thinks they said she was in for 2 wks only, I thought she said she was there for a month after calving.

how soon after calving will they go in heat again? 3 wks? that'd put her at 10/31 for breeding date... 2 wks after like dh said would put her at 10/24 for breeding... the latest would be 11/10.

it'd be so nice to have a better guess on the actual date.

Here's a link to a gestational calendar. I keep a printed copy on my refrigerator.

First heat after calving will vary alot by individual, production, temperature, health can all impact that. You may see signs of estrus as early as 3 weeks after calving, but ignore that one. Typically, commercial dairymen plan for breeding back at about 60 days post calving, on average milkers.

Is she confirmed pregnant? It's pretty rare to have a cow ready to settle within a month of freshening. The uterus has to shrink tremendously, and the ovaries become active again. You may see a cow acting like she's in heat in the first month, but her ability to conceive then is very limited.

Ummm... there are pictures on the other thread... YES, shes definitely pregnant

We had no clue she was pregnant until 2 wks ago. We assumed since she was with the bull for such a short time so soon after calving that she was NOT bred.

but, since we can feel the calf moving on her right side, we do know she is in fact pregnant and that was the ONLY time she was with the bull. we have no bull here and there are no cows/bulls within a mile of us that I know of... its all pastures and soybean around us.
