Even I'm in shock!!! (pics)

Well after raising bottle calves for years, I've finally broke down and bought a real milk producer, no bottle required. Move over goats big mamma has arrived. Unfortunately she's currently dry but with an AI appointment in two weeks. I never thought I'd own a Jersey Cow at Topside one, but apparently times are changing... If CJB can have one why can't I...
P.S. Thanks Ed

Well John, This is probably the most excited Ive been on this board.... I was hoping you would by one of mine, but she looks like she will do just great! 9 months from now, you can retire from your chores and watch this beauty do the work for you! Definatly the best investment you could have made... Keep us posted with her progress!

Did you know why she was dry and open?? She doesn't seem to be fat, considering. Good luck with getting her bred, she is pretty.

Thanks Rachel. (Short story) she's dry and open because of poor planning. No Vet nearby to AI, no cattle trailer to transport cow to Vet for AI, no bull, no pasture, lots of money on grains, plus living in the middle of nowhere is nice, but it can also hurt...Not really sure what the owners were thinking at the time of purchase....anyway thanks for the cow compliment....TJ

Congrats! She is a pretty girl. Eight months from you'll be on pins and needles What her name? Will you put foster calves on her AND drink her milk? She looks like a big healthy jersey girl!

Valerie, I've changed her name to "Bailey". I fully intend to use her as nurse cow. I'll never get rid of my dairy goats they provide milk for extra bottle calves and of course my refridgerator....

Welcome to dairy cow ownership. My late father called it "sustainable poverty", LOL!
Now you will have opportunity to hone your skills in heat detection
