Bottle Calves??

Thinking of selling the two bull calves born recently as bottle calves. What is the going price for a bottle calf in Missouri? Don't need them as we already have a calf for beef next year and possibly have at least 4 more cows bred that will calve in the next 2-3 months. These guys are holsteins and drinking up the milk that we sell. One is 3 weeks old the other is the bull calf of the twins born last week.

Hopefully someone in your area will speak up, but if I were selling them I would charge $125, maybe less for the younger one. Is the younger one twin to a heifer?

At auction your looking at $80 for the one, and $40 or less for the other. So avoid the auction, at least in my area.

with it being summer around here (north of springfield) I'd pay $100 and $65.

Here we bought two Jerseys for 100 each. Then bought a Holstein for the same. At the sale Wed. they were going for 20.00...But I think I have had enough sale barn lessons....
I go with the others at around 100.00.

I just sold a bottle fed but weaned Angus/Holstein cross steer that was 3 1/2 months old for $300.00, although I did throw in a Nubian doe that I wanted to get rid of; she was a pitb.

I just bought three calves (at the sale barn) to foster on to jersey's.
Angus/Jersey mix $170
Angus $170
Beefmastesr $160

All bulls all pulled off their moms in the ring. (guessing on the breeds)

How old are these calves? The is pretty high for a jersey cross. It was good to see that they were right off their mothers though....

Around here I recently paid 27.50 for a 100 pound holstein bull calf the month before I paid 20 for a 120 pounder both from the sales barn. Can't seem to find anything on holstein bull calves on the MO stock report.
If you have the pasture keep em, switch to milk replacer instead of your milk and sell em when they get bigger, as feeders in the 250 to 600 pound range.
Or find somebody that really wants one and get all you can.

I think the jersey cross is about a month and a half old. He's older than I wanted.....but I just wanted something that would drink milk! I have three jerseys that will all calve within a month of each other....lots of milk

The other two are about a week old. They seem to be doing well...no scours I actually bought the jersey cross on the live auction on the computer. The sale barn is about 15 miles away...just didn't make there to see them sell. Last year I think I paid $225 for foster angus mix calves. Valerie
