Pasture Warning for the Midwest

Watch your animals closely for Fescue Toxicosis and Ergotism. Symptoms are many and it can be fatal. Tall Fescue Grass has LOTS of Ergot on it this year in SC Indiana. I imagine it is in many nearby regions that have been wetter and cooler. If your pasture has mature Fescue, go look for little black things on the seed heads. If you see any, post your info and your region here. Ergot is also bad on Annual Ryegrass right now. It’s also on Orchard Grass, but only slight. It’s very rare on Brome.
